In the week 17th -23rd of March, all of Royal Bay Care Homes took part in Nutrition and Hydration Week 2014, a collaboration between the Hospital Caterers Association, National Association of Care Catering and Patient Safety First.
Each of our homes organised dedicated activities focusing on improving awareness amongst the clients and staff about the importance of what we eat and drink. For example, Castle Farm Retirement Home, Lytchett Matravers enjoyed sampling a variety of food from around the British Isles as part of'Celebrating British Food', they also had a 'Hydration Day', and 'International Cuisine Day' where resident sampled flavours from around the world.
In West Sussex, as well as holding general dicussions, two of our homes also took part in a 'Come Dine With Me' situation, where residents from each home visited the other homes and tasted the food cooked by each of our chefs, before giving a score out of 10.
Everyone had a great time sampling what each home had to offer, but at the end of their time, Royal Bay Nursing Home slightly pipped Claremont Lodge at the post with a win of 38/40 to 30/40.
Our mission is to create a global movement that will reinforce and focus, energy, activity and engagement on nutrition and hydration as an important part of quality care, experience and safety improvement in health and social care settings.
